* Packet Count Guide

Here is an approximate guide matching trace file sizes to packet count:

  • High proportion of browser traffic – 100MB file would contain approximately 150,000 packets
  • High proportion of thin client – 100MB file would contain approximately 500,000 packets
  • High proportion of VoIP – 100MB file would contain approximately 600,000 packets
  • Typical mix from user PC or VDI VM (excluding thin client) – 100MB file would contain approximately 200,000 packets

It’s very easy to check the packet count in a trace file using Wireshark. Open the file in Wireshark and from the main menu choose Statistics -> Capture File Properties. Under the Statistics heading go to the Packets row and then across to the Captured column.

This is the time it takes to complete the check of the quality of the data you upload.

This is the time we aim to complete our analysis. The time can be longer if, for example, we need more information or data from you to complete the work. There may be other complexities that influence the time needed.

After delivering our report, we arrange a video conference to discuss the findings and answer any questions. We prefer to use WebEx for the debrief but we can accommodate Skype for Business or Google Hangouts.

This is the monthly subscription charge for use of the NTAS problem investigation and network health check services.

This is an amount charged for each problem investigation or health check project, and is in addition to the monthly charge.

The project charge allows for the analysis of a certain number of packets; the base data allowance. If more than this number of packets is uploaded for analysis, there will be an additional charge based on the Additional data charge scheme.

See the Packet Count Guide section below for help calculating packet counts.

Where the amount of data uploaded for a project exceeds the Base data allowance, this is the additional charge for the extra data. This is in addition to the Monthly charge and the Per project charge.

This is the method we use to charge you for the service.

Once we have completed our analysis, you may need help explaining the findings to a supplier. This optional service covers liaison with suppliers. The associated charge is in addition to all other project charges.

Our PSEs can help you capture high quality packet data. The assistance is delivered through email, online conferencing and telephone support. The support can range from simple advice on capture parameters through to the writing of a Diagnostic Capture Plan. This is an optional service that is charged in addition to other project charges.
